Bronze Sculpture for Sale
Mohammed Abusal is a Palestinian multidisciplinary artist born in Gaza in 1976. His practice uses installation, photography, painting, and sculpture to explore the relationship between technology, infrastructure, everyday life, and the realities of living in Gaza.
Abusal's work often transforms ordinary objects and ideas into critical and imaginative propositions. In (2012), he imagined a metro network connecting the Gaza Strip, while Shambar (2013) explored creative forms of lighting developed in response to ongoing electricity shortages. In Pain-Fortable, he transformed concrete blocks from houses damaged by missile strikes into sculptures resembling luxury furniture, questioning ideas of comfort, housing, and survival.
A founding member of the Eltiqa contemporary art collective and HAWAF Collective, Abusal has exhibited extensively in Palestine and internationally, including in France, the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, and the UAE. His work is held in collections including the Imperial War Museum in London. In 2005, he received the Charles Asprey Prize for Contemporary Art.
