Biography
Ewa Bathelier's experience is clearly reflected in her iconic acrylic paintings. Having spent her adult life in France, the artist focuses on one of the country's most celebrated cultural exports: ballet, and in particular, ballet costumes. Light, flowing, and symbolic, the dresses, leotards, and primavera tutus she depicts are set against monochrome backgrounds, though the garments are conspicuously lacking the bodies meant to inhabit them.
