Biography
Fabrice Leito is a painter based near Lyon. From his studio, he explores the expressive potential of the people around him and the emotions they convey. Fascinated by their beauty and uniqueness, he instinctively captures what he perceives and translates it into his artwork.
Acrylic paint is his preferred medium. On canvas, wood, or metal, he develops a gestural technique where the paint is applied in superimposed strokes, building in relief and giving life and depth to his subjects. Fabrice creates works where matter and emotion freely interact. Each piece exudes a strong physical and emotional presence.
Although he often starts with a preconceived idea, he quickly gives way to intuition, letting himself be guided by the sensations of the moment. What particularly characterizes his approach is his choice to embrace the errors and accidents that occur during the creative process, which he considers an essential part of the work.
"Leito", his artist name, is actually an anagram of the word "toile", a nickname given to him by his classmates during his art studies, in reference to the almost obsessive attachment he has to this medium with infinite possibilities.
