Biography
Artur Aguilar is a contemporary artist born in Barcelona in 1946. He currently is living and working alternately in London and Barcelona.
He studied in the Fine Arts Faculty of Barcelona and he won the First Drawing Award granted by the Spanish General Management of Culture and Arts. The Government of Catalonia awarded him a Plastic Arts scholarship. Since 1980 his work has been shown in different museums and galleries of Spain and in other European countries.
His pictorial practice is based on the application of geometric and mathematical rules. His work is formally reductionist because he returns to geometry, to two-dimensionality, uses pure shapes and offers rationality through series of elements that are placed in the space, but the colour brings us closer to the warmth of the sensibility.
