Axel B

Axel B is a Swiss artist, born in 1977, and based in Lucerne.

Possessing 3 nationalities, the artist follows a path made up of expatriation, travel and cultural discoveries which have a profound influence on him. It was in 2016 that he began to realize himself through painting.

Axel B is noticed in 2019 during the exhibition of his first commissioned work "Genesis", "Orange" and "Steps" for a modern architecture loft. He was then noticed and encouraged by a contemporary art critic of European renown.

This first set gives birth to the series "Giant Steps", as the revelation of the pictorial style of Axel B.

The "polymorphs" become the vector of its deep expression.

Besides the research on colors and interferences, the particular technique of making polymorphs is made of instantaneity and impatience, energy and movement.

The emotion can then reveal itself or slip away in an unpredictable and capricious way. This spontaneous, random and inexplicable aspect of abstract expression is constitutive of Axel B's style.

Built on binary contrasts and interferences, then realized in energy and instantaneity, Axel B's canvases reveal a depth and a sensitivity that resonates in every spectator. The chaotic aspect of the “polymorphic" traces strangely harmonizes with the clean lines of modern architecture. They inhabit and bring to life volumes and spaces through their emotion and the particularity of colors.

The series "Walls" of 2020 is the continuation of this research with the contribution of urban motif in ink.

Axel B works in parallel with another series called "Assemblage".

These 2 series are imprints of the troubled "Zeitgeist" of the year 2020.
