I seek to capture atmosphere, light, and inner states of being

Biography

My name is Olena Kirdina, a Ukrainian artist living and working in Bucha, Kyiv region. I received a professional art education, studying painting at art school and later specializing in book graphics at the institute. For 15 years, I taught painting, drawing, and composition at the Department of Book Graphics while actively developing my own artistic practice.

My current work focuses on contemporary painting that explores memory, resilience, and the emotional landscape of everyday life in Ukraine. Through figurative and semi-abstract compositions, I seek to capture atmosphere, light, and inner states of being. Living and creating in Bucha has deeply influenced my visual language, adding layers of reflection, fragility, and strength to my work.

I primarily work with oil and acrylic on canvas, as well as mixed media techniques that combine drawing, textured surfaces, and graphic elements. My background in book graphics informs my attention to composition, line, and narrative structure within each piece. I have collaborated with Kyiv galleries and participated in numerous local exhibitions, continuously expanding my artistic dialogue and presence within the contemporary art scene.
