ROY FAIRCHILD-WOODARD (1953 - 2014): Roy Fairchild-Woodard was a British painter and printmaker known for his richly decorative figurative compositions, combining elements of fantasy, mythology, and European artistic traditions. Born in 1953, he studied at the University of California, Santa Barbara, before establishing his career as an artist. His work is distinguished by elegant female figures, elaborate costumes, flowers, animals, and dreamlike architectural settings, rendered in luminous colors and intricate patterns. Fairchild-Woodard drew inspiration from Renaissance and Baroque art, Pre-Raphaelite painting, and the decorative traditions of Eastern and Western cultures. He worked in a variety of media, including oil, watercolor, gouache, and mixed media, often incorporating gold and silver leaf into his compositions. His paintings and limited-edition prints were exhibited internationally and became particularly popular with collectors in the United States, Europe, and Asia. Fairchild-Woodard died in 2014, leaving behind a distinctive body of work celebrated for its romantic imagery, ornate detail, and fantastical atmosphere.
