Victor Pasmore

Victor Pasmore, was born in 1908 and died in 1998, he is an English artist and architect. When his father died, he was forced to stop his studies and find a job. Passionate about painting, he took drawing lessons at the Central School of Arts.

During one of his first exhibitions in 1934, his style became figurative, influenced by Monet, Cézanne, Turner and Whistler. After the Second World War, he turned to abstraction, a field where he became the pioneer in England. His teachers were Piet Mondrian, Paul Klee and Ben Nicholson. Victor Pasmore's abstract work are architectural, in relief and constructivist.

His interest for the mixture of art and architecture led him to create mural works for various public buildings in the United Kingdom. In 1961, he represented England at the Venice Biennale. His pieces are also part of the Tate's collections.
