Biography
Jim Amaral was born in 1933 in the village of Pleasanton, located on the San Francisco Bay. He was a student at Stanford University, then at the Cranbrook Academy of Arts (Michigan). In 1957, the young artist went to Colombia where he met Olga who would become his companion. Amaral ended up settling permanently in Colombia in the early 1960s, a country from which he drew all his inspiration.
