Colleen Browning

Colleen Browning (1929–2003) was a New York–based painter known for her atmospheric realism and quiet, introspective scenes of everyday life. Born in England and raised in Ireland, she later moved to the United States, where she became associated with the realist tradition while developing a distinctive, poetic style.
Browning's work often captured fleeting moments—figures in shadow, reflections in shop windows, or light filtering through urban spaces—imbued with a sense of mystery and stillness.
