Alsu Vagidullina

United States • 1990

Through color, I seek to convey not only the landscape itself, but its atmosphere, sounds, scents, and the emotions of being present within it.

Biography

Alsu Vagidullina is a contemporary landscape artist. Her work has been presented in national and international exhibitions, including RUSSINDI at Nazrul Tirtha Gallery in Newtown, India, and Parks of Sochi. Seasons in Sochi, Russia. She has also participated in international online exhibitions based in the United States and Canada.

Working primarily with oil on canvas and soft pastel, Alsu focuses on landscapes and still lifes. Her practice is rooted in close observation of nature, but her aim extends beyond recording a recognizable place. She approaches landscape as a sensory experience, using color, light, and composition to suggest atmosphere, sound, scent, and the emotional character of a particular moment.

Oil allows her to build an image slowly and reconsider its details, while soft pastel introduces a more immediate, tactile relationship with the surface. Drawing is also central to her process: preparatory sketches help her investigate form, palette, and composition before developing a finished work.

Through this combination of observation and sensory memory, Alsu Vagidullina seeks to make landscape felt rather than simply seen, creating paintings that invite an emotional response to the natural world.
