JOHN WHORF (1903 - 1959): John Whorf was an American painter and watercolorist known for his energetic, atmospheric depictions of landscapes, city scenes, coastal subjects, and everyday life. Born in Winthrop, Massachusetts, in 1903, he became an accomplished artist at a young age and developed a distinctive watercolor technique characterized by bold brushwork, strong movement, and expressive use of color.
