Biography
Born in 1938 in Moscow, architect by training, Alexey Klimov embraces the chaos as the operational force in nature. He lives and works in the United States.
The sculptor puts in his constructions an urban sensitivity rooted in the tradition of Malevich and Tatline, but also inspired by the American interest in invention, recycling and preservation of ancient artifacts in new contexts.
Klimov's creative process displays a strong instinctive quality that he conceives in three dimensions. At a first glance, his sculptures are full of recognizable elements: steel beams, bolts, stars and numeric figures, support rods and tarpaulins. A more careful examination shows winged titans, old machines, shells of rusty industrial ruins.
