Michael Townsend

Michael Townsend was born in Southern California, but didn't begin shooting portraits and lifestyle photographs until he moved to New York in his early 30s to continue working in the fashion industry. Upon returning to California eight years later, his disparate passions for surfing, the camera, and his home state merged into compelling water photography. He has spent the last two years on the road with his wife and small dog shooting surf culture from Baja California, Mexico, to Washington State.
