Description
This artwork portrays an elegant woman reclining on a luxurious, patterned chaise lounge, exuding a sense of classic glamour. Her vibrant red hair cascades over her shoulders, complementing her stylish, off-the-shoulder gown in rich, earthy tones. The background is a soft watercolor wash of purples and pinks, creating a dreamy, ethereal atmosphere. A distinctive, vintage-style lamp with intricate designs on its base adds a touch of sophistication. The foreground is adorned with delicate details, including several elegantly shaped glasses, a stack of books, and a purple vase holding white flowers, enhancing the composition's refined allure. A framed black-and-white portrait on the wall suggests a connection to the past, adding depth to the scene. The artwork masterfully combines elements of fashion, interior design, and nostalgia, capturing a moment of serene contemplation and timeless style.
Presentation
The worlds of fashion, society and pop culture are explored through the illustrations of Manuel Santelices, a Chilean artist and journalist living and working in New York for the last 20 years. After writing stories about style, design, art and politics for a number of magazines, including the Spanish editions of Elle, Harper's Bazaar and Esquire, and being fashion writer in New York for Vogue Mexico and Latin American for 7 years, Manuel decided to focus his attention to illustration, painting mostly with watercolors the same characters and events he covered as a journalist.
