Manuel Santelices   Emerging artists

This vibrant scene captures the electric atmosphere of a high-society gathering. The artist blends his journalistic eye for detail with a fluid, illustrative style. Rapid lines and bold washes of color define the composition. A woman in a striking blue gown commands the center, her posture poised and enigmatic. Around her, guests mingle with an air of effortless sophistication.
The palette relies on a dramatic contrast between deep reds and cool tones. Gold accents suggest a luxurious interior, hinting at an opulent setting. Each figure is rendered with a few precise strokes, conveying personality and movement. The use of watercolor adds a lightness to the composition, balancing the intensity of the background.
The narrative focuses on the unspoken tensions and glances of a glamorous evening. It reflects a deep fascination with fashion and the choreography of social interaction. This artwork translates a fleeting moment into a timeless study of elegance. The composition is anchored by the sharp contrast of the figures against the warm, saturated walls. Every gesture is captured with a refined, expert hand.

The artist has covered New York collections for over 16 years and has interviewed, as a journalist, several fashion designers and personalities for different publications. He loves the fun, art and beauty of the fashion business. The worlds of fashion, society and pop culture are captured in the illustrations, paintings and watercolors that the artist creates. In some ways they are the same characters and events that Manuel Santelices covered in the past as a journalist in New York.
