Diptych Gentle Touch (In hands series), 2025

Kateryna Kostyk

This diptych includes two drawings: “Tiny Life in Hands" and “Hands of Childhood."

Artwork ''HANDS OF CHILDHOOD'' captures a warm, soul-soothing moment of childhood — when you simply can't pass by a sunlit field without picking a dandelion that has already turned into a puffball. You reach out your tiny hand, gently touch it, and feel the pure joy of blowing the delicate seeds into the wind, or running with it in your hand as it slowly disperses on its own. In that innocent act, you become part of nature's quiet cycle — helping new dandelions grow while experiencing one of the simplest and happiest feelings of being a child.

This drawing is filled with tenderness and nostalgia. It reminds us of those fleeting yet timeless moments when we felt connected to the world around us in the most genuine way.
It's a piece that would beautifully complement a children's room, or bring a sense of peace and warmth to any space — especially if it resonates with your own childhood memories.

"TEENY LIFE IN HANDS". This drawing captures a tender and heartwarming moment — a child's small hand gently holding a tiny duckling. There's something profoundly symbolic in this fragile connection: a little life being trusted to another small, innocent being. It's a meeting of gentleness and care, where both are equally delicate, equally pure.

The artwork evokes that quiet happiness we feel when witnessing new life — the joy of seeing the first hatchlings and wanting to hold each one carefully, to feel their warmth and softness. It's about that innocent wonder that children experience so naturally — the kind of joy that reminds us how precious and healing even the smallest lives can be.

Diptych “GENTLE TOUCH" belongs to the series “In Hands", which includes artworks of different sizes and formats, all united by one central idea — the hand. Each piece in the series tells its own unique story and conveys a different emotion. Though they are connected by this common element, every artwork remains deeply individual, reflecting distinct moods and meanings.

P.S. Please note that the artwork “Hands of Childhood” has a minor paper imperfection caused by an unfortunate accident. It is visible in one of the final images; however, when the artwork is framed under glass, the imperfection becomes significantly less noticeable and does not detract from the overall aesthetic of the piece.
