Description
A striking blend of figurative precision and surreal imagination. This artwork captures a floating female figure suspended against a vivid blue expanse. Meticulous lines define the scene. Every stroke reflects a lace-maker's patience. The composition balances raw vulnerability with mystical elements. A textured, creature-like presence looms behind the woman. Its skin possesses a granular, rhythmic quality. Fine patterns create a sense of tactile depth.
The artist explores the female form as a paradox. Sensuality meets a visceral, haunting quality. Bold red accents cut through the composition. These splashes evoke a feeling of sacrifice or rebirth. Tiny white dots drift across the frame like fallen snow or cosmic dust. The use of pencil and ink allows for extreme detail. This creates a tension between the flatness of the paper and the volume of the figures. The scene oscillates between a dream and a nightmare. It remains deeply human. The gaze of the woman is serene yet distant. It invites a meditative reflection on the mysteries of the body and the subconscious. The piece concludes with a mysterious bowl resting at the bottom edge.
Presentation
Claudine Loquen is a French artist born in 1965 who lives and works in Sassetot-le-Mauconduit, France.
Like Colette with the literature, the artist makes the apology of painting with human face, especially feminine that is her subject of predilection.
Canvas after canvas, figure after figure, she traces with the meticulousness of a lace-maker, the map with the moving borders of a paradoxical territory.
