Description
Elemental: Blue Ocean and Lightning Artwork with a Glowing Horizon
This stormy ocean artwork invites a place in a modern home. In "Elemental" (35.5 x 28 x 0.1 cm / 13.98 x 11.02 x 0.04 in), Jane Nee brings dramatic weather and emerging light together in oil on paper. Deep blue waves roll beneath violet clouds, with fine lightning branching through the sky. A red and orange glow gathers around a golden yellow horizon, while white foam and warm reflections animate the sea. The scene feels powerful, yet its light suggests renewal rather than a simple victory over darkness. Water, weather, movement, and stillness form parts of the same changing natural rhythm. Atmospheric realism keeps the subject recognizable while allowing its emotional tension to unfold. This unique artwork is signed by hand on the front and back and supplied unframed. Its matted size is 40.5 x 50.5 cm (15.94 x 19.88 in). The compact horizontal format complements modern interiors, warm wood furniture, and understated coastal decor. It appeals to collectors of expressive marine scenes and makes an ideal gift for someone who finds meaning in the ocean's shifting moods.
Presentation
Jane Nee (b. 1992) is a contemporary artist based in South Korea, specializing in oil painting with a refined smooth-painting technique. Her practice is centered on creating contemplative spaces within her works—quiet invitations to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with the beauty of the present moment.
Through softness and precision, Nee achieves a meditative quality in her paintings, balancing technical mastery with emotional resonance. Her art reflects on the rapid tempo of modern life, offering viewers not overwhelming narratives but subtle, intimate dialogues with color, form, and atmosphere. She believes art has the power to awaken what often remains unnoticed, revealing inner peace and unseen connections between humanity and nature.
Jane Nee's works have been exhibited internationally, including in the United States, Switzerland, India, Serbia, Russia, and South Korea. She has received recognition in numerous international competitions, including multiple first and merit awards. Alongside her artistic practice, she runs her own studio, where she teaches painting and art courses.
Nee is a member of the Eurasian Art Union, the Professional Union of Artists, and the International Academy of Contemporary Arts. Her works are held in private collections worldwide.
