Description

Catwoman in fishnet stockings from the Le Palace collection by Arnaud Baumann.

This captivating artwork presents a scene of striking visual intensity. The central figure is a woman dressed in a bold manner, with a black hood that contrasts elegantly with the rest of her outfit. Set against a minimalist backdrop, she wears a silver corset that structures her silhouette. Her posture, crouched and determined, exudes a quiet strength and captivating confidence. The background is animated by bright geometric patterns, reminiscent of neon lights and contributing to a futuristic and intriguing atmosphere. The use of bright colors and dynamic shapes behind her accentuates the contrast with her sober outfit, emphasizing her central position. The ground is strewn with multi-colored confetti, adding a festive and disordered texture to the scene. This juxtaposition between the geometric order of the background and the colorful chaos on the ground emphasizes the duality and complexity of the image. This work highlights themes of duality, contrast and dynamism through a bold and avant-garde aesthetic. The whole is a visual exploration of identity and personal expression, magnified by a carefully orchestrated staging.

Arnaud Baumann, a French portrait photographer and videographer, was born in 1953 and left an indelible mark on the world of photography. His career began alongside photographer Xavier Lambours, with whom he had the opportunity to capture unique and intimate moments by photographing the backstage, laughter and editorial conferences of Hara Kiri and Charlie Hebdo magazines. This experience marked the beginning of a promising career.

Over the years, Arnaud Baumann has published reports in renowned magazines such as Hara Kiri, Libération, Le Nouvel Observateur, Télérama, VSD, Paris Match and Géo, thus demonstrating his talent and versatility as a photographer.

During one of the defining periods of his career, from 1978 to 1983, Arnaud Baumann immortalized the evenings at Fabrice Emaer's Palace. Through his photographs, he captures the very essence of these evenings, plunging us into the electric and liberated atmosphere of a bygone era.

Arnaud Baumann has devoted much of his career to portraiture, becoming a master in the art of revealing the essence of personalities and cultural figures. His portraits are imbued with depth and sensitivity, to the point of capturing the soul of his subjects.

Throughout his career, Arnaud Baumann reinvents his style while remaining faithful to what makes him a generational photographer. His photographic practice rethinks the links between the structure of his vision and the reality that surrounds him. His photographs are recognizable by their precise framing, their chosen colors and their always mastered compositions.
