A row of slender autumn trees blazes in fiery yellows, oranges, and reds against a cool turquoise-blue ground in this lyrical semi-abstract landscape. Hovhannes Avetisyan stretches the canopies into elegant, flame-like forms, their leaves built from richly textured impasto and threaded with fine dark branches that climb from spindly trunks. The vivid warm-cool contrast sets the foliage glowing as if lit from within, while soft shadows pool across the blue earth below. Both decorative and atmospheric, the work captures the radiant drama of autumn distilled into pure color and rhythm. Presentation
Hovhannes Avetisyan is an Armenian painter born on April 30, 1986, in Vanadzor, Armenia. His love for art and drawing took root in childhood and has never left him — growing over the decades into a rich and multifaceted creative life spanning more than twenty years of dedicated practice.
In 2003, Hovhannes enrolled in the Department of Fine Arts and Drawing at Vanadzor State University, where he pursued his passion with academic rigour, ultimately graduating with a Master's degree — a foundation that would inform both the depth and discipline of his future work.
In 2008, he was conscripted into the Armenian Armed Forces, where he served for two years as a painter and Senior Sergeant. Even within the structure of military life, his creative impulse remained undiminished, and he continued producing artistic work throughout his service.
Returning to civilian life, Hovhannes dedicated himself fully to the development of his craft. Over the course of his career, he has worked across a broad range of directions and genres — including painting, landscape, portraiture, and decorative art — completing more than 200 works that have earned consistent praise and loyalty from collectors and clients alike. His paintings have been exhibited at numerous shows both within Armenia and internationally.
Among his proudest professional achievements is the founding of his own art school in Vanadzor, which has grown to be recognized as one of the finest in the city. Through it, he channels his knowledge and experience into the next generation of Armenian artists — nurturing young talent with the same commitment to craft that has defined his own journey.
Hovhannes Avetisyan continues to paint, teach, and grow — driven by a quiet but enduring mission: to contribute meaningfully to the development of Armenian art and to pass its living tradition forward.
