Description
Portrait of the actress Jacqueline Bisset, icon of 1960s-70s cinema. Portrait in 6 colors, made with a stencil.
The gaze is calm. The pose is serene. This portrait is part of a Pop Art aesthetic where the precision of the stencil meets the fluidity of spray paint. The artist explores the human nature through an iconic face.
The composition plays on marked contrasts. Flat areas of color define the volumes of the face and the curves of the shoulders. The plain blue background accentuates the luminosity of the skin tones and the depth of the brown hair.
This technical approach, originating from street art, transforms a familiar image into a rigorous graphic study. The work on shadows creates a striking relief without using classic gradients.

Tian is a French artist of urban influences, living and working in Le Mans.
Tian is fascinated by human nature, which is his favorite subject. The ambivalence of the being, its fears, its anxieties, its contradictions and its joys represent for the artist a great ground of inspiration, in which he pick ups all day long. He works more precicely on the duality of characters, revealing thus all the paradoxes of human emotions, as well as on the duality of physical, romantic and conflicting interactions between two subjects. Communication with the body can be sensual, romantic, sexual, or on the contrary tense, dominating, enslaving.
Tian works with stencils, on the walls of big cities or on canvases. Le Mans remains his favorite playground, even through we can see his tag on the walls of Paris, London, Berlin, Brussels, New York, Sao Paulo and Warsaw.
