Description
In this contemporary figurative artwork, the body appears not merely as a physical shell for biological life, but as a vessel for the intangible—conscience, hope, and the capacity to love. At the same time, Daria Golovina explores the human condition and spirituality, posing a fundamental question: is a human truly the bearer of these qualities in their inner essence, or do they not exist inherently, but rather arise as a result of one's decisions, actions, and way of being in the world?
The canvas belongs to the Spiritus series, which broadly focuses on identity and the inner world, treating the individual as an object worthy of veneration regardless of their status, role, or social standing. Drawing upon the visual language of sacred and secular art alongside contemporary symbolism, the series does not replicate religious dogma, but explores the very possibility of discerning within a person that which transcends their utilitarian or social definition.
