Description
This pastel explores the richness of textures through a classic still life composition. The citrus fruits, with their orange and bright hues, occupy the center of the scene. Their roundness contrasts with the finesse of the green leaves and the delicacy of the small red berries.
The light sculpts each fruit, bringing precise relief and natural depth. The dark and neutral background accentuates the brilliance of the colors, highlighting the freshness of the plant elements.
The pastel work allows for a smooth transition between shadows and illuminated areas here. Particular care is observed in the details, notably in the rendering of the partially opened fruit segments.
The whole rests on a dark horizontal support that stabilizes the composition. This 2019 creation testifies to rigorous technical mastery and a search for visual balance. The signature PB appears discreetly in the bottom right corner.
Presentation
I am a self-taught pastel artist based in Rennes and a member of the *Société des Peintres de Montagne* (Society of Mountain Painters). A hospitality school graduate, I still work in the restaurant industry. I have loved drawing since childhood. My passion for pastels truly took hold following the International Pastel Exhibition in Brittany in 2022. I began by painting seascapes and then still lifes using pastel pencils on small-format paper. I subsequently turned to mountain landscapes, which have now become my primary source of inspiration. I enjoy painting high peaks using luminous, delicate colors and precise linework—a style that earned me a feature in *Pratique des Arts* magazine in April 2023. That same year, I was honored to win the Public's Choice Award at the *Journée des Arts* (Arts Day) in Rennes' Thabor Park.
