Description
This compelling artwork showcases an evocative interplay of form, color, and texture that commands attention. At first glance, the dark, almost impenetrable black background sets a stark canvas that immediately amplifies the vibrancy of the overlaid elements. Dominating the composition are a series of interconnected white rings, their overlapping forms creating a sense of motion and fluidity. These rings are rendered with a loose, almost spontaneous hand, lending a sense of dynamic energy to the piece. Contrasting sharply with the monochrome of the loops, vibrant pink streaks drip downward with deliberate irregularity. These magenta drips introduce an element of rawness and imperfection, piercing the monochromatic scheme with their lively hue. They seem to bleed from the composition, emphasizing the tension between order and chaos, precision and spontaneity. The arrangement of the rings is both chaotic and harmonious, as if representing an intricate dance or an abstract, cosmic event. The pink accents, bold and unapologetic, break through the white and black, creating a layered depth that invites prolonged examination. The subtle nuance of varying ring thicknesses and the imperfect closures of some circles introduce an engaging asymmetry, compelling viewers to trace their paths and immerse in their disordered elegance. This piece's unique synthesis of color, shape, and movement evokes a profound sense of both turbulence and cohesion, making it an outstanding work of contemporary abstract art.
Presentation
My name is Michael R. Grine and I am an process oriented artist. I use a combination of found objects, acrylic paints, and aerosol paints to create abstract patterns on wood and canvas.
Statement
Curiosity. Emotion. Experimentation. Exploration. Leap of faith. Pursuit of knowledge. These words only begin to describe what my art signifies or represents. I was born an artist and have always identified myself as an artist. I possess an insatiable creative drive to make art out of the images I see in my mind. To help satisfy this impulse, I am always exploring new places and trying new things. Having freedom of expression and not being limited to one style or technique of making art are paramount to my identity as an artist. I love the many different processes of making art and experimenting with new ways of creating art.
My inspiration stems from color, music, literature, and the excitement about the unknown possibilities of taking everyday objects and using them in a way that differs from what the manufacturer intended. I use a combination of found objects, acrylic paints, and aerosol paints to create abstract patterns on wood and canvas. Some of my methods include combining different chemicals and paint on paper or in plastic or wood box frames to distort vivid colors that are mixed or thrown right on the canvas. The result is the distortion of lines and contours, and layers of translucent or opaque paints on the canvas or in random patterns.
