Description
This diptych was born from about ten days spent in Venice during the biennial. What can be said of the enchantment of this unique city, beautiful to die for, beautiful from so much time spent making it even more beautiful, emerging from the waves, dreamlike appearance, its roses, its ochres, its marble whites and the water , the sky, the bridges between men. A city of happiness and sweetness, peopled with magnificent works of red, green, ocher and blue, and yet a tragic city, hence the title Carnival and Rising Waters because we still laugh and dance there but the water rises inexorably.
Presentation
Of Franco-American origin, Diane de Cicco first studied biology at the University of London and then worked as a researcher in the United States. In 1984, she decided to quit science and study photography, which in 1996 led her to drawing and painting via the Ateliers de la Ville de Paris. She is based in Paris and works in Ivry-sur-Seine.
Deep blues, ultramarine blues, turquoise blues, bronze or emerald greens, browns, ochres, whites, pinks, tumults and flights, peaceful plains and gaps towards a beyond... We are in the hollow of the waves which carry us away, we are in meadows of wild grass, we are at the edge of ponds surrounded by gorse, we are elsewhere. The chords and rhythm of Diane de Cicco's abstract landscapes situate us in a physical and mental space-time that arises from the artist's deep relationship to music and nature, like an invitation to travel and an inner walk. .
