Description
Woman watching TV with spent cup of tea/coffee.
I apply the pastel in successive layers to achieve a soft structure with some areas having a more robust textured element. I use artists hogs hair brushes to manipulate some of the work to give it density. A Studland coloured board was used as I like the rigidity and fine surface.
Finally the pastel figure is fixed to protect it and the work only needs framing to to make it ready to hang and should framed under glass with a mount.

Artist Statement:
I suspect like most figurative artists I find drawing and painting the human form wholly embedded with human behaviour. The desire to secure more than a representation of a persons movement, the spilling of light over contours or the various other physical facets is the reason we continue to make paintings. To liberate a recognisable emotion in texture, colour and pattern and to make it still, perhaps this is a measure of a successful painting.
