Description
Camouflaged, transitioning into hiding, into the shadows showing only a glimpse of what is underneath. A composition of acrylic paint, plaster, sand and pastels, inspired by the volatility of the moment and the mysteriousness of the hidden. Exploring an intense, yet playful way how colours create light and shadows while drawing you into hidden depths. In her mixed media works, Katja Wittmer creates colour compositions that invite to curiously explore beyond what is apparent at first glance. Playing with form, texture and abstraction, Katja Wittmer develops the wonderful complexity of colour -in an interplay that extends through several layers, she achieves a unique and highly individual compositional power, creating her own unmistakable style of abstract modern art. Unframed, stretched onto deep edge canvas, ready to hang. Frames shown in pictures are only for demonstration purposes and not included with the painting. Signature: front and back, signed Certificate of Authenticity. If you have any questions please dont hesitate to contact me it will be my pleasure to assist!
Presentation
I create Art to explore my own emotional abyss and through my work I encourage others to do the same. My paintings are multi layered, merging both abstract and figurative elements, with a strong emphasis on colour and how colour drives personal associations. The central theme in my work is "looking behind the curtain", as I am fascinated by the exploration of the hidden. I work with bold colours and strong textures to provoke movement, elicit mysticism, and engage the viewer's subconscious.
I work in acrylic and mixed media on Canvas and encaustic and oils on wood. My style is provocative and engaging. I create multiple layers and structures, suggesting movement and change.
In my paintings I explore the complex facets of humankind- highs and lows, light and shadows, beauty and distortion, love and hate.
