Description
Lucent (2/19) is a work by Scottish artist James Lumsden, part of the Lucent series.
The artist uses a succession of different layers of acrylic paint to create depth and bring out the light in his work. Translucent, vibrant colors are layered and blended to create delicate, contrasting associations. Thanks to this pictorial technique, which skilfully combines chance and control, the material support is transformed into a poetic work of art full of emotion.

Presentation
James Lumsden is a contemporary Scottish artist who works between Edinburgh and the Isle of Lewis.
James Lumsden's works explore the concepts of depth, color and light. The artist pushes the limits of painting and experiments with a personal technique: he applies dozens of thin layers of gesso and translucent acrylic paint to the canvas. Using tools, this mixture is worked to hide or reveal traces and colored marks. The artist succeeds in creating the appearance of depth and light in the painting, layer by layer, immersing the viewer in an enigmatic and seductive universe.
