Enrique Senís-Oliver, born in Valencia, Spain, in 1935, cultivated his interest in art since his childhood at the Marist Brothers School. He studied anatomy at the San Fernando School of Fine Arts in Madrid, which helped him create his future works. In 1957, he dedicated himself exclusively to the arts and traveled to Paris, where he realized that the French capital was not the ideal place to launch his career. Senís-Oliver then traveled to Switzerland and painted his first serious portrait of Elvia Lefebre, Panama's Ambassador in Bern, followed by others in Brussels, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Rome. In Athens, where he lived for a year, he painted Aristotle Onassis, among other shipping industry executives and his families, including Prime Minister Konstantinos Karamanlis.

In 1961, Senís-Oliver settled in New York, established himself as a neorealist painter and exhibited in the best art galleries in the city. He designed the interior and created a mural for a new ballet theater in New York's prestigious Lincoln Center in 1972, which took him almost two years to complete. In the winter of 1973, the wife of the President of the United States, Mrs. Betty Ford, opened the theater. After receiving rave reviews for the design and the mural, Senís-Oliver became a prominent figure in the New York art scene.

In 1992, he returned to his hometown and from November to December 1993, the Valencia City Council paid tribute to him with an anthological exhibition in the city museum, the Palacio de Marqués de Campos. Senís-Oliver stood out among his colleagues for his extensive resume, achievements and maturity in his work. He painted portraits of the society of Valencia, Madrid and Barcelona, and completed a mural for the ceiling of the Polytechnic University library in 2000.

Currently, Enrique works on commission; If he is interested in commissioning your own custom artwork of his, please see our staff, and we will be happy to add you to the waiting list.

Enrique Senis Oliver

Spain  • 1935

Enrique Senís-Oliver born in 1935, now lives in Valencia, Spain. He has published his second book entitled Enrique Senís-Oliver, which contains works made between 1990 and 2014. His paintings can be found in important museums and private collections all over the world. In the year 2000 the Polytechnic University of Valencia gave Senís the commission to paint a mural for the ceiling of the new library of the Polytechnic, more than 200 square meters, and they paid him 30 million pesetas (180,000 euros). Enrique Senís-Oliver painted and delivered the mural to the Polytechnic but it is not yet installed. At the beginning of 2015, the newspaper "Las Provincias" published a series of articles calling attention to the fact that the Polytechnic kept the mural in its art funds, which it had paid for with public money, and had not even planned its assembly. Due to pressure from the press on the one hand and on the other a clause in the original contract between the artist and the Polytechnic, which stipulated that the work may not be used for another purpose (in this case not to mount it), the Polytechnic would have to indemnify to Senís an amount equal to three times its value, which would amount to more than half a million euros... After 15 years stored and rolled up in the art collections of the Polytechnic of Valencia, the mural is about to see the light; the Polytechnic is doing the paperwork to mount the mural. The General Secretary of the Polytechnic, Vicente Castellano, says that they are investigating the possibility of having the mural mounted in August 2015.
