Description
EUROPE
Three inseparable watercolors on 300 g Fontaine paper, illustrating the kidnapping of Europa by Zeus
EU bull horn, watercolor on paper 40 x 20 cm, February 27, 2021
"The young princess one day had a surprising dream where two personified continents tried to seduce her. When morning came, to chase away this strange dream, she went with her attendants to pick flowers near the beach of Sidon.
It was there that Zeus saw the young girl playing with her companions and he immediately fell in love with her. He judged it more prudent to transform himself into a bull to escape the surveillance of his wife, Hera, and to better approach young girls without frightening them. He took the form of a beautiful white bull with a forehead adorned with a silver disc and topped with crescent moon horns..."
RO crocus, watercolor 20 x 40 cm on paper, April 13, 2020
"He mingled peacefully in the young girls' games; he even allowed himself to be caressed by Europe, who, attracted by the smell of a crocus that he was chewing, fell under his spell and sat on his back.
But as soon as she was on his back, he rushed towards the nearby shore. Accompanied by a whole cohort of marine divinities, Nereids riding dolphins and tritons blowing conch shells, he brought him to the island of Crete..."
PE plane tree leaf, watercolor 20 x 40 cm on paper, March 1, 2021
"In Gortyn, under a plane tree which was now ever green, they united. Minos, Sarpedon and Rhadamanthus were the fruits of this union."
Presentation
- Plastic artist
More than twenty years ago now, an artist friend during a walk cut a branch of forsythia attacked by galls from a hedge, telling me that it could be a good subject to paint.
So I took out my brushes and my school paints and reproduced the branch quite clumsily. But the virus took hold, pushing me to paint and progress. My scientific training and observational drawing help me a little for line, time and practice for color.
For ten years, I have accepted the idea of showing my work which revolves mainly around botany, zoology with often a suggested or even suggestive double reading.
I have a personal museum of curiosities which serves as a database for the production of my images.
I mainly use watercolor as a medium but also the repurposing of engravings, objects and photography.
