Description
The gaze rises to the steep peaks of the Mont Blanc massif. The line becomes dense. The pencil sculpts the rock with surgical precision.
The artist favors the economy of means here to translate the grandeur of the landscape. Each line follows the slope. Each hatch defines the relief.
The drawing oscillates between spontaneity and rigor. The shades of blue and ochre intertwine to suggest the cold light of the heights.
This graphic approach recalls the discipline of travel journals. The paper becomes the witness of a direct contact with nature.
The rendering favors the geological structure. The composition emphasizes the verticality of the summits.
The whole forms a topographical study where color highlights the shadows cast by the rock faces.
Presentation
Image creator on paper, and writer, I draw a large part of my inspiration from direct contact with nature.
After a passage at Beaux-Arts (Montpellier), I began to experiment with different graphics by guiding myself by two principles: spontaneity in expression and economy of means (pencils, markers, colored pencils, A4 or A3 paper). I came to color later having long preferred black and white.
Graphic research goes hand in hand with, for me, the exploration of other countries and regions. It sometimes takes the form of a travel journal, with texts and drawings. I am also interested, in the spirit of the Cobra group or Chinese calligraphy, in the relationship between writing and drawing. Because I am also a writer.
I regularly exhibit in the PACA and Rhône-Alpes regions. Currently, I have a predilection for landscapes.
