Again and Again, 2023

Andrii Davydenko

Andrii Davydenko's "Again and Again" is an exquisite portrayal of the tension and harmony between urban settings and natural forms. Set against a sprawling urban skyline depicted in a range of blues, from azure to navy, the painting depicts several goats in varying poses, rendered in fresh shades of green that symbolize nature's enduring presence. These goats roam freely across the canvas, bringing a sense of whimsy and unpredictability that contrasts sharply with the orderly, rigid structures of the cityscape. This contrast is not just visual but thematic, reflecting on the ever-present push and pull between human constructions and the environments they inhabit. Inspired by Mark Chagall, Davydenko infuses this piece with elements of fantasy and surrealism, where goats become playful protagonists within the urban narrative. The use of both acrylic and oil mediums enriches the texture of the work, enhancing the visual impact and drawing the viewer into a layered, thought-provoking scene that questions and celebrates the coexistence of disparate worlds.
