Description
This street art piece presents a bold interpretation of the famous "La Vache qui rit" mascot. It occupies a canvas measuring 105 cm in height by 85 cm in width. Set against a vibrant blue background, characteristic of the Freda People's style, the cow is depicted in an exuberant and colorful manner, staying true to its iconic image but with a contemporary twist. The outlines are bold, and the colors are saturated, sharply contrasting with the background to create a dynamic visual effect. The details add an unexpected depth, bringing this familiar icon to life in a modern urban context. The overall work exudes positive energy, inviting the viewer to revisit this popular figure of French culture with humor and nostalgia.
Presentation
Freda People Art is the name under which the brothers David Salvador and Javier Salvador, originally from Barcelona, develop an eclectic artistic practice at the intersection of Street Art, Pop Art, and popular culture. Attracted to art from a young age, the two artists began to paint in the street and drew inspiration notably from the works of Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Pablo Picasso, and Salvador Dalí. This first experience of graffiti and urban space constitutes an important element of their artistic approach, which associates references to art history, characters from popular culture, and contemporary aesthetics.
In parallel with their artistic activity, David and Javier Salvador practice their art in their own tattoo studio. This experience contributes to nurturing a free and experimental approach to image, in which different mediums and techniques can be associated. Their production includes notably paintings, collages, and sculptures, demonstrating a desire not to limit themselves to a single discipline. Their style is thus characterized by a great diversity of subjects and references, while maintaining a visual identity strongly linked to the world of Street Art and contemporary figuration.
The works of Freda People Art regularly reference emblematic figures from popular and artistic culture. Mickey Mouse, Superman, Batman, the Joker, or famous personalities and artists appear in their production. Their work also explores the legacy of great figures in modern and contemporary art, notably Picasso, Roy Lichtenstein, and Keith Haring. Through these references, the artists confront different images from popular culture, art history, and the urban world.
David and Javier Salvador work in Barcelona and participate in exhibitions and events in this city. Their works have also been sold in many countries and cities around the world, notably in Rome, Milan, Genoa, London, Manchester, Paris, Brussels, and Berlin, as well as in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Luxembourg, Portugal, Romania, Cyprus, Singapore, and Japan. Their works are also exhibited in galleries in France, Germany, Austria, and the United States. Their practice is thus part of an international scene of contemporary art, while maintaining the influences of the street and visual culture that accompanied their beginnings.
