Description
In this painting Pasta Queens, I explore the intimate connection between two women, united by their enjoyment of food. The scene captures a moment of pleasure as the women sensually savor pasta, symbolizing the essence of Italian cuisine. The vivid contrast of their red lips against the soft minimalism of forms highlights both the simplicity and depth of this moment.
Inspired by the pop-art style, I focus on the abstract depiction of the two women, emphasizing the beauty of their shared experience. The red lips become a bold accent, evoking a sense of courage and desire, while the flowing lines of the pasta enhance the movement and rhythm of the composition.
Through this portrait of two women, I aimed to create a visual metaphor for the enjoyment of food, love, and life, reflecting the simplicity of pleasure that can be found both in art and in dining. This work is not just about food, but about connection, emotions, and passion.
Presentation
Kristina Mallen, a painter with a background in oil and acrylic mediums.
Her recognisable style infuses the sophistication of Art Deco, the pop of Pop Art with a dominant focus on the female figure, manifesting elegance and eroticism. Her work exudes the extravagance, classical chic, and charm of women, striking a balance between provocation and the sublime.
