Floral etude, 2024

Helen Shukina

This vibrant artwork is a masterful display of abstract expressionism, embodying a lively blend of colors and dynamic brushwork. The canvas bursts with an explosion of pastel hues—soft pinks, fresh greens, and hints of azure—creating an energetic yet harmonious composition. Bold strokes and dabs of paint are layered meticulously, offering a sense of depth and texture that invites viewers to explore its intricacies.

The piece suggests an impression of a floral bouquet, though it remains delightfully ambiguous, allowing for individual interpretation and emotional response. The fluid movement of the colors conveys a sense of vitality and captures the ephemeral beauty of nature. Each brushstroke appears deliberate yet spontaneous, reflecting the artist's refined technique and expressive freedom.

Notably, the juxtaposition of light and dark tones adds a striking contrast, enhancing the overall dynamism of the composition. This artwork stands out for its ability to evoke emotion and inspire joy through its vibrant palette and uninhibited style. It's a testament to the power of abstraction in conveying the essence of its subject without the constraints of realism.
