Description
A small, oil painting depicts a coastal scene, in a Mediterranean port. A pale yellowish-tan lighthouse tower, with a dark brown or black cap, stands prominently in the foreground, anchoring the left side of the composition. The water, a deep, almost cerulean blue, extends across the majority of the painting, reflecting the light and colors of the sky and structures. The surface of the water shows gentle ripples and subtle reflections of the light. A light-brown or tan seawall or part of a pier extends into the water from the base of the lighthouse, and a small, dark-colored vessel is visible near the horizon, close to the right side. Another smaller, darker craft is further back, and slightly to the left of the main vessel. The sky displays a mix of soft pastel colors. The upper portion of the sky is a light, almost pale blue, transitioning to shades of lavender and grayish-purple clouds in a layer close to the horizon. These clouds create a soft and diffuse lighting effect. Slightly above the waterline, subtle, hazy, light-colored clouds are visible, contrasting with the lighter areas of the sky and the lighter tone of the lighthouse itself. The overall impression is of a tranquil, late afternoon scene.
