Description

"The Street Was Covered with Snow" is a striking Oil painting on cardboard that beautifully captures the transition of seasons and the quiet charm of a wintery urban street. The artist employs a rich impasto technique, using bold, expressive brushstrokes to bring depth and movement to the scene. The foreground is dominated by a gently curving road, partially covered in snow. The contrast between the icy white and the dark wet asphalt suggests that the snowfall is recent, with the road still partially exposed. The thick application of paint creates texture, giving the surface a tactile, almost three-dimensional quality.A small yellow car is the focal point of the composition, moving along the road. Its vibrant color stands out against the muted tones of the snowy landscape, drawing the viewer's eye toward the center of the painting. This car adds an element of warmth and liveliness, a reminder that life continues even in the cold stillness of winter. To the right, a row of houses with snow-covered roofs is enclosed by a rustic wooden fence. The artist has masterfully captured the way light reflects off the snow, using subtle shades of white, cream, and pale blue to depict the varying textures of the winter blanket. The houses, painted in warm earth tones, provide a sense of comfort and homeliness amidst the cold. The background is a symphony of warm and cool hues. The trees, depicted in deep reds, oranges, and purples, suggest the remnants of autumn still clinging to their branches. These fiery tones contrast beautifully with the cool lavender sky, which is rendered in soft pastel shades, evoking the ethereal light of a winter afternoon.Through "The Street Was Covered with Snow," the artist conveys a sense of transition, nostalgia, and quiet beauty. The painting invites the viewer to reflect on the fleeting nature of the seasons and the simple joys found in everyday moments. Whether it's the warmth of a home, the crunch of snow underfoot, or the sight of a lone car navigating a winter road, this artwork celebrates the harmony of nature and human presence in an ever-changing landscape.

Works by Boris Serdyuk are held in museums in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as in private collections in Ukraine, European countries, the USA, Israel, and other countries.
In 2018, the artist entered the global art space of the creative platform in New York, where seven of his works were included in the catalog "Painting & Graphics."
Currently lives and works in Kremenchuk, Poltava Region.
Took his first steps in the world of visual arts within the walls of his local school, then studied at Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School. After graduation, he returned to his homeland and started working as a drawing and painting teacher.
Later, he realized that for an artist, creative freedom is essential. Thus, after seventeen years of teaching, he left the profession to focus on his creative work. The artist is content to have the opportunity to engage in his beloved craft, which he considers the meaning of his life.
His journey had its ups and downs, victories in competitions, and recognition from admirers, yet he never ceased his determined quest for his artistic path. In ancient times, "serdyuk" referred to professional infantrymen in the Cossack ranks. This heritage likely passed down not only the surname but also many Cossack traits to the artist, including hard work, modesty, and human dignity.
Boris Serdyuk creates in genres such as portrait, landscape, and thematic composition. His works are varied, reflecting the artist's impressions of the places he visited. Among them are picturesque corners of Kremenchuk and Dnipro views, urban and maritime landscapes, the grandeur of the Carpathian Mountains, and cozy Ukrainian villages. His canvases are intriguing in terms of color and relatively compositionally perfect, revealing the life of nature at the time of their execution.
There are also commissioned portraits and paintings, such as "Shevchenko in Baturyn." He spent over a year working on it, studying the architecture of the former hetman capital. However, the artist prefers to work swiftly, capturing the vision of a painting before it fades from his mind and before the sun changes its angle and shadows. On average, according to the artist, he spends about 40 minutes on a single landscape.
Boris successfully combines a poetic perception of the world and a deep understanding of nature with brilliant artistic execution. His paintings exude a special light and a delicate sense of nature – vivid colors on the canvas resonate with intermediate tones. The artist has abandoned contours, replacing them with separate and contrasting brushstrokes; his paintings amaze with colors, not only their diversity but also the amount of substance applied to the canvas – vibrant, vivid, voluminous.
Describing the master's works is a challenging task. Boris Serdyuk's works are special – they are painted with soul. One must see and feel the wonderful harmony of nature on the artist's canvases firsthand and touch the great mystery of Art.
