Description
AAA3760
The oil painting on cardboard, titled "It's Getting Dark", captures the quiet transition from day to night in a lush, expansive landscape. The artist uses bold, expressive brushstrokes and a thick impasto technique to create a textured, dynamic composition filled with deep greens, cool blues, and warm golden hues. The painting conveys a moment of stillness in nature as the last traces of daylight fade into the horizon. In the foreground, rich green vegetation dominates the scene, with dense foliage painted in a variety of shades, from bright lime to deep emerald. The texture of the brushwork gives the impression of leaves rustling in the fading light, adding a sense of movement to the landscape. The ground is dotted with patches of golden brown, suggesting a sunlit meadow that is slowly cooling under the encroaching shadows of the evening. The middle ground features a small body of water nestled among the greenery, reflecting the soft hues of the sky. The blue tones of the water provide a striking contrast against the dominant greens, acting as a focal point that draws the eye deeper into the painting. The artist's use of light reflections on the surface enhances the sense of depth and tranquility.Beyond the water, rolling hills and distant trees stretch across the horizon, their forms fading into the atmospheric haze of dusk. Painted in deep blues and purples, these distant elements contribute to the painting's overall sense of depth and vastness. The sky, filled with soft lavender, gray, and hints of warm peach, suggests the last glow of sunlight filtering through scattered clouds. The thick application of paint in the sky adds a sense of weight and texture, emphasizing the approaching night.Through "It's Getting Dark", the artist conveys a feeling of serenity and the natural rhythm of time. The painting captures the quiet beauty of nature as it transitions from the vibrancy of day to the mystery of night. The interplay of light and shadow, the contrast between warm and cool tones, and the expressive brushwork all work together to evoke a moment of reflection, where the viewer can almost hear the distant call of birds settling in for the night and feel the cool air descending over the landscape. The scene invites contemplation, reminding us of nature's timeless cycle and the peacefulness that comes with the closing of the day.

Works by Boris Serdyuk are held in museums in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as in private collections in Ukraine, European countries, the USA, Israel, and other countries.
In 2018, the artist entered the global art space of the creative platform in New York, where seven of his works were included in the catalog "Painting & Graphics."
Currently lives and works in Kremenchuk, Poltava Region.
Took his first steps in the world of visual arts within the walls of his local school, then studied at Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School. After graduation, he returned to his homeland and started working as a drawing and painting teacher.
Later, he realized that for an artist, creative freedom is essential. Thus, after seventeen years of teaching, he left the profession to focus on his creative work. The artist is content to have the opportunity to engage in his beloved craft, which he considers the meaning of his life.
His journey had its ups and downs, victories in competitions, and recognition from admirers, yet he never ceased his determined quest for his artistic path. In ancient times, "serdyuk" referred to professional infantrymen in the Cossack ranks. This heritage likely passed down not only the surname but also many Cossack traits to the artist, including hard work, modesty, and human dignity.
Boris Serdyuk creates in genres such as portrait, landscape, and thematic composition. His works are varied, reflecting the artist's impressions of the places he visited. Among them are picturesque corners of Kremenchuk and Dnipro views, urban and maritime landscapes, the grandeur of the Carpathian Mountains, and cozy Ukrainian villages. His canvases are intriguing in terms of color and relatively compositionally perfect, revealing the life of nature at the time of their execution.
There are also commissioned portraits and paintings, such as "Shevchenko in Baturyn." He spent over a year working on it, studying the architecture of the former hetman capital. However, the artist prefers to work swiftly, capturing the vision of a painting before it fades from his mind and before the sun changes its angle and shadows. On average, according to the artist, he spends about 40 minutes on a single landscape.
Boris successfully combines a poetic perception of the world and a deep understanding of nature with brilliant artistic execution. His paintings exude a special light and a delicate sense of nature – vivid colors on the canvas resonate with intermediate tones. The artist has abandoned contours, replacing them with separate and contrasting brushstrokes; his paintings amaze with colors, not only their diversity but also the amount of substance applied to the canvas – vibrant, vivid, voluminous.
Describing the master's works is a challenging task. Boris Serdyuk's works are special – they are painted with soul. One must see and feel the wonderful harmony of nature on the artist's canvases firsthand and touch the great mystery of Art.
