Description
AAA3792
This oil painting cardboard, titled "Walking on a Frosty Day", the composition is well-balanced, drawing the viewer's eye toward the center where a group of people is strolling across the snow-covered ground. The figures are depicted in loose, impressionistic strokes, giving a sense of movement and activity while preserving the painting's overall atmospheric quality. Some appear to be walking in pairs or small groups, while others stand alone or engage in playful activities, possibly sledding or playing in the snow. The background is dominated by a series of frosted trees, whose branches are coated in thick layers of snow. These trees, painted in shades of cool blues, purples, and warm pinks, create a stunning visual contrast with the icy foreground. The sky, painted in delicate lavender and soft gray hues, suggests an overcast winter afternoon or the final moments of daylight before dusk. The painting's color palette is dominated by cool shades of blue, violet, and white, which effectively convey the crisp chill of winter. The artist skillfully incorporates warm pinks and peach tones into the snow-covered trees, suggesting the reflection of the fading sunlight, possibly during sunset. This subtle warmth provides a striking contrast to the otherwise cold environment, adding depth and visual interest. The ground is depicted with smooth yet textured brushstrokes of icy blues and soft grays, reinforcing the idea of a thick snow blanket covering the landscape. Shadows, painted in deeper blues and purples, give a sense of depth and movement, while small details like red and dark clothing on the figures introduce pops of color that break the monochromatic harmony of the winter scenery. The figures in the foreground are painted with more fluid and delicate strokes, making them appear slightly blurred, as if they are blending into the frosty landscape. This effect enhances the sense of motion and cold air, reinforcing the impression of a peaceful yet lively winter day. This piece beautifully captures the fleeting beauty of winter—its stillness, its playfulness, and the soft light that bathes the landscape. It evokes memories of childhood winters, leisurely strolls, and the unique silence that snow brings to the world.

Works by Boris Serdyuk are held in museums in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as in private collections in Ukraine, European countries, the USA, Israel, and other countries.
In 2018, the artist entered the global art space of the creative platform in New York, where seven of his works were included in the catalog "Painting & Graphics."
Currently lives and works in Kremenchuk, Poltava Region.
Took his first steps in the world of visual arts within the walls of his local school, then studied at Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School. After graduation, he returned to his homeland and started working as a drawing and painting teacher.
Later, he realized that for an artist, creative freedom is essential. Thus, after seventeen years of teaching, he left the profession to focus on his creative work. The artist is content to have the opportunity to engage in his beloved craft, which he considers the meaning of his life.
His journey had its ups and downs, victories in competitions, and recognition from admirers, yet he never ceased his determined quest for his artistic path. In ancient times, "serdyuk" referred to professional infantrymen in the Cossack ranks. This heritage likely passed down not only the surname but also many Cossack traits to the artist, including hard work, modesty, and human dignity.
Boris Serdyuk creates in genres such as portrait, landscape, and thematic composition. His works are varied, reflecting the artist's impressions of the places he visited. Among them are picturesque corners of Kremenchuk and Dnipro views, urban and maritime landscapes, the grandeur of the Carpathian Mountains, and cozy Ukrainian villages. His canvases are intriguing in terms of color and relatively compositionally perfect, revealing the life of nature at the time of their execution.
There are also commissioned portraits and paintings, such as "Shevchenko in Baturyn." He spent over a year working on it, studying the architecture of the former hetman capital. However, the artist prefers to work swiftly, capturing the vision of a painting before it fades from his mind and before the sun changes its angle and shadows. On average, according to the artist, he spends about 40 minutes on a single landscape.
Boris successfully combines a poetic perception of the world and a deep understanding of nature with brilliant artistic execution. His paintings exude a special light and a delicate sense of nature – vivid colors on the canvas resonate with intermediate tones. The artist has abandoned contours, replacing them with separate and contrasting brushstrokes; his paintings amaze with colors, not only their diversity but also the amount of substance applied to the canvas – vibrant, vivid, voluminous.
Describing the master's works is a challenging task. Boris Serdyuk's works are special – they are painted with soul. One must see and feel the wonderful harmony of nature on the artist's canvases firsthand and touch the great mystery of Art.
