Description
This captivating work features a group of stylized trees against a deep black background. The slender brown trunks support spherical, textured crowns in vibrant hues of yellow, green, blue, and beige. Each crown contrasts beautifully against the dark background, instantly drawing the eye. The rounded shapes and tactile surface of the trees add a sculptural dimension to the painting, while the slight blue shadows suggest a rolling landscape, enriching the composition with depth. The minimalist, modern look of this painting reveals a perfect mastery of color and form, offering a unique and imaginative interpretation of nature. This work is distinguished by its harmonious balance between simplicity and expressiveness, transforming the familiar sight of trees into a dynamic, contemporary visual experience.
Presentation
Born in 1967, Laurent Bouro lives and works in Tours. He is a self-taught artist. He has dedicated his career to painting for the last ten years. He exhibits regularly in galleries and art fairs in France. His works have been acquired by collectors all over the world: Paris, Rome, New York, London, Brussels, Auckland. His main themes are the face and the body, for which he uses all his mastery of the art of the portrait.
Laurent Bouro paints faces in order to try and portray the human soul in its timeless dimension. Inspired by ethnic masks, he revisits the "facies" through mixed techniques. He uses acrylic retouched with oil, collage, scratching, scraping... the effects of the materials are superimposed on the grain of the canvas, and on the irregularities of the wooden support.
The traits of his characters are rather carved than it drawn. He always paints men. The expressions go through a sight without eyes, to better allow them to show their inner lives. Between cave painting and tribal painting, between dripping and tattooed prints, Laurent Bouro's masks embody a viril masculinity, despite the scars of life.
