Presentation
Moïse Kisling (1891-1953) was a Polish-French painter known for his vibrant and expressive style.
Born on January 22, 1891, in Krakow, Poland, Kisling studied at the School of Fine Arts in Krakow before moving to Paris in 1910. He became associated with the School of Paris and was influenced by the Fauvist and Cubist movements. Kisling's early works depicted scenes from Montparnasse, capturing the bohemian lifestyle of the time. His later works explored a more classical and refined style, often portraying female nudes and intimate portraits.
Kisling achieved considerable success during his career, exhibiting extensively in Europe and the United States. He was known for his ability to infuse his paintings with emotional intensity and his skillful use of color.
Kisling passed away on April 29, 1953, in Sanary-sur-Mer, France, leaving behind a significant body of work that continues to be celebrated today.
