Description

The oil painting on Cardboard titled "Working in the field under a blue clear sky" captures the timeless rhythm of rural life, where human labor and nature exist in perfect harmony. The scene is set on a vast, sunlit field stretching toward the distant horizon, bathed in the intense, vibrant hues of a summer day. The artist's use of rich, textured brushstrokes brings the landscape to life, capturing the energy and movement of both the workers and the natural world around them. In the foreground, the field is a patchwork of lush, sun-soaked greens and warm golden tones, representing the fertile earth and the abundance of crops swaying gently in the breeze. The thick, expressive strokes create a sense of movement, as if the wind is rustling through the tall grasses and leaves, whispering the songs of the harvest. The earth itself, captured in tones of rich ochre, deep brown, and hints of sunlit yellow, anchors the scene, grounding the vibrant landscape with a sense of permanence and resilience. At the heart of the composition, figures can be seen tending to the land, their forms painted with a sense of purpose and quiet strength. Their simple, functional clothing blends into the surrounding colors, emphasizing their deep connection to the earth they cultivate. The artist's brush captures the graceful, rhythmic motions of their work – bending, lifting, and moving with the steady cadence of the task at hand. The workers are not merely subjects within the landscape but integral parts of it, their presence a testament to the age-old partnership between humanity and the land. Above them, the sky is a vast, unbroken expanse of clear, brilliant blue, a perfect backdrop to the rich tapestry of colors below. The artist has captured the intensity of the summer light, with its clear, sharp contrasts and radiant warmth. The horizon line, where the vibrant green of the fields meets the endless sky, draws the eye across the canvas, inviting the viewer to imagine the cool, fresh air and the distant sounds of nature that accompany such a scene. In the distance, the landscape softens into gentle, rolling hills and distant treelines, painted in cooler tones of deep green and blue, providing a sense of depth and scale. These distant elements add a sense of tranquility and timelessness to the composition, reminding the viewer of the vast, unending cycles of nature that have shaped the land over countless generations.

Works by Boris Serdyuk are held in museums in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as in private collections in Ukraine, European countries, the USA, Israel, and other countries.
In 2018, the artist entered the global art space of the creative platform in New York, where seven of his works were included in the catalog "Painting & Graphics."
Currently lives and works in Kremenchuk, Poltava Region.
Took his first steps in the world of visual arts within the walls of his local school, then studied at Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School. After graduation, he returned to his homeland and started working as a drawing and painting teacher.
Later, he realized that for an artist, creative freedom is essential. Thus, after seventeen years of teaching, he left the profession to focus on his creative work. The artist is content to have the opportunity to engage in his beloved craft, which he considers the meaning of his life.
His journey had its ups and downs, victories in competitions, and recognition from admirers, yet he never ceased his determined quest for his artistic path. In ancient times, "serdyuk" referred to professional infantrymen in the Cossack ranks. This heritage likely passed down not only the surname but also many Cossack traits to the artist, including hard work, modesty, and human dignity.
Boris Serdyuk creates in genres such as portrait, landscape, and thematic composition. His works are varied, reflecting the artist's impressions of the places he visited. Among them are picturesque corners of Kremenchuk and Dnipro views, urban and maritime landscapes, the grandeur of the Carpathian Mountains, and cozy Ukrainian villages. His canvases are intriguing in terms of color and relatively compositionally perfect, revealing the life of nature at the time of their execution.
There are also commissioned portraits and paintings, such as "Shevchenko in Baturyn." He spent over a year working on it, studying the architecture of the former hetman capital. However, the artist prefers to work swiftly, capturing the vision of a painting before it fades from his mind and before the sun changes its angle and shadows. On average, according to the artist, he spends about 40 minutes on a single landscape.
Boris successfully combines a poetic perception of the world and a deep understanding of nature with brilliant artistic execution. His paintings exude a special light and a delicate sense of nature – vivid colors on the canvas resonate with intermediate tones. The artist has abandoned contours, replacing them with separate and contrasting brushstrokes; his paintings amaze with colors, not only their diversity but also the amount of substance applied to the canvas – vibrant, vivid, voluminous.
Describing the master's works is a challenging task. Boris Serdyuk's works are special – they are painted with soul. One must see and feel the wonderful harmony of nature on the artist's canvases firsthand and touch the great mystery of Art.
