Description
This unique original artwork by Raymond Pettibon, created in 2006, exemplifies the artists distinctive blend of expressive illustration and handwritten text.
Original executed in watercolor and ink on heavy paper
Hand-written text by Raymond Pettibon upper right in watercolor
Acquired directly from the artist in 2006.
The piece features a loosely rendered frog in vivid greens and purples, with the handwritten phrase at the top: " This is what a frog looks like when you're -- too late -- going to die ". This fusion of unsettling text with surreal, emotionally charged imagery is emblematic of Pettibon s style, where drawing and language form a raw, narrative unity. The piece combines humor, irony, and existential tension in a way that is immediately recognizable within the artists oeuvre.
The watercolor has intentionally influenced the texture of the handmade sheet, giving it a subtly uneven surface
Professionally framed presented in a plexi showcase, in our own frame-shop.

Presentation
Raymond Pettibon is an American artist, born in Arizona in 1957, famous for his graphic, illustrative style. After studying at UCLA, he rose to prominence in California in the early 80s, particularly on the SoCal punk rock scene where he designed albums and posters.
Pettibon's work has become renowned for its poignant themes and relevant social commentary, referencing American culture across politics, social movements, sports, music, sexuality and more. His pieces appear cartoon-like, his earlier works mainly in black-and-white adopting a newsprint style, whilst his newer pieces are more collage. He continues to work and live in New York City.
