The Thread Between Worlds, 2025

Vera Hoi

“The Thread Between Worlds" reflects an inner journey across shifting emotional landscapes. The fine orange line weaves through fragmented spaces like a lifeline—connecting memory, presence, and transformation. As in much of my Shadow Migration series, nature becomes both a guide and a mirror, helping me navigate change and find grounding within the in-between.

“The Thread Between Worlds" is one of the paintings from my “Shadow Migration" series. This series reflects my search for an inner sense of home and belonging in times of change. Breaks and fragments symbolise the inner conflict between past and future, while semi-transparent layers suggest overlapping memories with the present. The contrast between cool and warm colour tones expresses the struggle between fear and hope, doubt and acceptance.

Abstract natural elements in the work are reminiscent of the connection with nature, which helps to regain inner balance and grounding. The interaction with nature becomes an anchor for me that leads me back to harmony, where I can find support and feel my belonging to something greater than myself.

The main source of my artistic exploration is nature, where I find harmony and a deep understanding of life. Based on the concept of Aura of Perception (Auroticity), I create authentic artworks infused with unique energy and emotional resonance. The place where I live is enchanting in its beauty and energy, inspiring me to explore the interaction between humans and nature, the psychology of relationships, self-discovery, and the state of full presence in the moment.

In my works, I focus not only on the external world but also on the landscapes of my inner soul. My pieces reveal not only the essence of landscapes but also delve into the depths of thoughts and emotions, which serve as inspiration for creating new visual narratives.

My personal experiences of development and transformation form the foundation of my artistic approach. I view change as an opportunity for profound personal growth and the exploration of uncharted aspects of my being. My artistic journey is a continuous metamorphosis, encompassing both the images themselves and the experimental methods of their creation. By exploring the interplay of colour and texture, I create artworks that reflect the richness and diversity of the transformations occurring within my inner life and the world around me.
