Description
Plein air, Odesa 2025
“Flounder. Odesa” 40×50
A sunny dream on canvas: a memory of a carefree summer
Oleksandr Khrapachov gives us the quintessence of an Odesa summer – a moment of perfect harmony between the sea, the sun and human comfort. This 2025 work, created during a plein-air session in Odesa, holds the very heart of the resort city – its inimitable atmosphere of lightness and the joy of being.
Before us is the legendary little seaside restaurant “Kambala” (“Flounder”), a place where the flavors of the sea, the aromas of the kitchen and the boundless blue horizon intertwine. The artist masterfully recreates the very moment when the deep, deep blue Black Sea seems especially profound and sunlight spills like gold along the whole coast.
The composition breathes with life: flowering shrubs on the mansard level create a cascade of color and freshness, as if nature itself were adorning this cozy spot. Combining academic precision with Impressionist freedom, Khrapachov conveys not just the look but the very feeling of an Odesa summer – that inimitable state of mind when time slows down and happiness can be felt in every breath of the sea breeze.
Why is this painting special?
The authenticity of the moment. Created during a 2025 plein-air session, the work retains the living energy of the place. It is not a studio reconstruction but a genuine dialogue between the artist and the sea, the sun and the atmosphere of legendary Odesa.
Emotional value. For those who love Odesa, this painting is a bridge to memories. For those who dream of going there, it is an invitation to travel. For everyone else, it is a window onto a world where it is always summer, always warm, and there is always room for joy.
Versatility in interiors. The 40×50 cm format is ideal for a cozy apartment as well as a modern office. The blue shades of the sea soothe, the sunny accents inspire, and the overall atmosphere creates a sense of space and freedom.
An investment in beauty. Oleksandr Khrapachov (b. 1981) is a recognized master whose works combine the classical school with a contemporary sensibility. Each of his works is not just a painting but a fragment of the artist’s soul, embodied in oil on canvas.
Who is this painting for?
- For admirers of Odesa – as a piece of a beloved city in your home
- For collectors of seascapes – a unique work from a 2025 plein-air session
- For connoisseurs of Impressionism – a vivid example of a contemporary reading of the style
- For those seeking atmosphere in their interior – a painting that sets a mood
- As an unforgettable gift – for people with refined taste and a love of the sea
This work is more than a landscape. It is an invitation to return (or to arrive for the first time) to that very summer day in Odesa when the sea is at its bluest, the sun at its warmest, and life at its most beautiful.
“Flounder. Odesa” is waiting to become part of your space, your collection, your life.
Oleksandr Khrapachov (b. 1981) is a contemporary Ukrainian artist who takes part in plein-air events and exhibitions and whose works stand out for their subtle combination of the academic school with Impressionist emotion.
