Description
This dynamic artwork reinterprets the iconic portrait of Marilyn Monroe with a modern approach. Using a blend of collage and painting techniques, the artist has incorporated pop elements such as a large, radiant smile, a golden crown, and animal motifs. The bold use of vibrant colors like yellow, pink, and blue lends an explosive energy to the composition. Touches of graffiti add an urban and contemporary dimension. The juxtaposition of Marilyn's figure with various symbols underscores her enduring status as a cultural muse. This portrait is not only a celebration of iconic beauty but also a commentary on the lasting influence of celebrity. The artwork captures attention and evokes a sense of joy and nostalgia, while simultaneously asserting its originality and artistic relevance in the modern world.
Presentation
Maria De Campos is a Portuguese painter born in 1977, She currently lives and works in Drome.
Maria De Campos graduated from the Regional School of Fine Arts of Valence. Afterwards she became passionate about visual arts, particularly for contemporary imagery.
Marias' painting is influenced by several diverse styles, ranging from Pop art to Expressionism. She chose as her main subject, which she uses recurrently, famous people of the twentieth century, portraits of famous men and women, that she reworks on color.
In her imagery and repertoire of celebrities, Maria De Campos wants to break the stereotypes that people can have about these personalities. The faces are treated with melancholy and poetry, dissimulated behind raw color and text fragments. Her pieces are undeniably contemporary and topical.
