Description
Fishing port. Hurghada, Egypt
Oleksandr Khrapachov, 2016
Oil on canvas • 50×70 cm
This work is not a tourist postcard but a genuine testimony to life on the Egyptian coast, captured through the artist's honest gaze. Oleksandr Khrapachov has transferred to the canvas the authentic atmosphere of Hurghada's working port — a place where time is measured by the tides rather than by the hands of a clock.
Painted from life in 2016, the picture preserves that unique moment of presence: the heat of the sand underfoot, the salty taste of the sea wind, the rhythm of the fishermen's working days. Shells with mollusks and woven nets lie scattered along the shore, palm trees lean over the water, and boats wait patiently for their next voyage into the open sea.
The combination of the academic school with Impressionist immediacy allowed the artist to convey not only what he saw but also what he felt. Every brushstroke here is alive; it breathes heat, the sea, the fishermen's labor. This is not the idealized Egypt of advertising brochures but its true heart, beating in a working port.
For a collector, this work is a rare opportunity to own a fragment of real life, captured at the crossroads of cultures and elements. For an art lover, it is an example of how contemporary painting can be at once documentary and deeply poetic.
The painting is ready to grace an interior that values authenticity, travel and art that tells stories.
Oleksandr Khrapachov (b. 1981) is a Ukrainian artist, a master of plein-air painting whose works carry on the traditions of the realist school with a palpable Impressionist temperament.
