The Oil painting Cardboard titled "The road to the forest" captures the mysterious and almost dramatic atmosphere of a woodland path as it leads the viewer deeper into the heart of nature. Executed in bold impasto, the composition unfolds with a striking interplay of dark and luminous tones, guiding the eye along a winding, rugged road that cuts across the canvas and disappears into the depths of the forest. The painting is more than a landscape; it is an emotional journey into the unknown, where color and texture embody the rhythm of nature and the artist's inner perception. The road itself is rendered in deep purples, violets, and earthy browns, with grooves and ridges created by heavy, expressive brushstrokes. These marks simulate the unevenness of a dirt path, weathered by rain and passage, suggesting both history and continuity. Touches of warmer tones—burnt sienna, crimson, and flashes of blue—emerge within the ruts of the road, giving the impression of pooled water reflecting the colors of the sky or the surrounding foliage. The direction of the brushstrokes creates a sense of movement, almost as though the viewer is being pulled forward, compelled to enter the forest's depths. On either side of the road, the forest rises dramatically with towering trees painted in strong vertical strokes. To the left, the trees are enveloped in dark hues of deep brown, indigo, and black, their dense presence evoking a sense of shadow and mystery. The paint is thick and layered, enhancing the feeling of impenetrability. On the right, however, the trees shift into brighter and more expressive tones—pinks, lilacs, and soft violets—suggesting birches or young trees catching the last glimmers of fading daylight. These strokes break the darkness and add an almost surreal radiance to the scene, creating a vivid contrast that makes the forest feel both inviting and intimidating. Above, the sky is a mixture of muted greys, pale whites, and subtle hints of yellow, layered with a palette knife to suggest heavy clouds breaking apart. The subdued tones of the sky imply the end of a storm or the dimming light of dusk. It does not overwhelm the scene but instead serves as a backdrop, enhancing the emotional tension between light and shadow, openness and enclosure.

Works by Boris Serdyuk are held in museums in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as in private collections in Ukraine, European countries, the USA, Israel, and other countries.
In 2018, the artist entered the global art space of the creative platform in New York, where seven of his works were included in the catalog "Painting & Graphics."
Currently lives and works in Kremenchuk, Poltava Region.
Took his first steps in the world of visual arts within the walls of his local school, then studied at Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School. After graduation, he returned to his homeland and started working as a drawing and painting teacher.
Later, he realized that for an artist, creative freedom is essential. Thus, after seventeen years of teaching, he left the profession to focus on his creative work. The artist is content to have the opportunity to engage in his beloved craft, which he considers the meaning of his life.
His journey had its ups and downs, victories in competitions, and recognition from admirers, yet he never ceased his determined quest for his artistic path. In ancient times, "serdyuk" referred to professional infantrymen in the Cossack ranks. This heritage likely passed down not only the surname but also many Cossack traits to the artist, including hard work, modesty, and human dignity.
Boris Serdyuk creates in genres such as portrait, landscape, and thematic composition. His works are varied, reflecting the artist's impressions of the places he visited. Among them are picturesque corners of Kremenchuk and Dnipro views, urban and maritime landscapes, the grandeur of the Carpathian Mountains, and cozy Ukrainian villages. His canvases are intriguing in terms of color and relatively compositionally perfect, revealing the life of nature at the time of their execution.
There are also commissioned portraits and paintings, such as "Shevchenko in Baturyn." He spent over a year working on it, studying the architecture of the former hetman capital. However, the artist prefers to work swiftly, capturing the vision of a painting before it fades from his mind and before the sun changes its angle and shadows. On average, according to the artist, he spends about 40 minutes on a single landscape.
Boris successfully combines a poetic perception of the world and a deep understanding of nature with brilliant artistic execution. His paintings exude a special light and a delicate sense of nature – vivid colors on the canvas resonate with intermediate tones. The artist has abandoned contours, replacing them with separate and contrasting brushstrokes; his paintings amaze with colors, not only their diversity but also the amount of substance applied to the canvas – vibrant, vivid, voluminous.
Describing the master's works is a challenging task. Boris Serdyuk's works are special – they are painted with soul. One must see and feel the wonderful harmony of nature on the artist's canvases firsthand and touch the great mystery of Art.
