The lotus has passed from bloom to seed. Honeycombed pods in shades of green and purple stand tall, holding the promise of what comes next.

**Lotus seeds are an extraordinary mystery even for scientists. Thanks to the hard shell, the seeds can be stored for hundreds of years, after which germinate as if they were collected yesterday.
